# Refresh the project thumbnail

`POST /v1/projects/{project_id}/thumbnail`

Queue a poster frame of the head: a single-frame preview (not billed) at the first moment the contact-sheet planner picks after zero. When it completes, the project's `thumbnail_url` and `thumbnail_version` update; the thumbnail is stale while `thumbnail_version` is below `version`. A call while one is in flight for the same version returns that job instead of queueing another. Saving a template and publishing one ask for a thumbnail on their own.

## Path parameters

- `project_id` string, required

## Response `202`

Thumbnail queued, or the one already in flight for this version.

- ThumbnailQueued: A thumbnail on its way: the project's ``thumbnail_url`` updates when the job completes.
  - `job_id` string, required: The preview job rendering it. Poll via GET /v1/renders/{id}.
  - `project_version` integer, required: The head version the thumbnail will show.

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing or invalid API key.
- `404`: Project not found.
- `422`: The head cannot be previewed yet: a source is missing or still processing.
