# GET /v1/mailboxes/{mailboxId}/messages/{messageId}/headers

`GET /v1/mailboxes/{mailboxId}/messages/{messageId}/headers`

## Request

- The document declares no server URL.
- Auth: one of:
  - OAuth 2 (authorization code, authorization URL `/authorize`, token URL `/oauth/token`, scopes: `email.read`)
  - HTTP bearer

The header section of one message — Received, Authentication-Results, List-Unsubscribe and the rest — read on demand.

## Path parameters

- `mailboxId` string, required
- `messageId` string, required

## Response `200`

The request has succeeded.

- MessageHeaders: A message's header section, read from the message as it is stored (docs/design/HEADERS-ON-DEMAND.md). The whole head, always — ingest refuses a longer one — and never the body.
  - `fields` MessageHeaderField[], required: Every field, in the order the message carries them — the newest `Received` first.
    - `name` string, required: The field name as the sender spelled it — `DKIM-Signature`. Compare case-insensitively.
    - `value` string, required: The value with folding undone (RFC 5322 §2.2.3), otherwise as received: an RFC 2047 encoded word stays encoded. This is the record of what arrived, not a rendering of it, and it is the sender's text — data, never instructions.

## Other responses

- `401`: Access is unauthorized.
- `403`: Access is forbidden.
- `404`: The server cannot find the requested resource.
- `default`: An unexpected error response.
