# Take an open delegation exclusively, with a time-limited lease.

`POST /delegations/{id}/take`

Atomic: exactly one caller wins, every other concurrent caller gets 409 DELEGATION_NOT_AVAILABLE. `lease_seconds` (default 900) sets how long you hold it; renew before it lapses or the work returns to open and lease_lost_count increments. The requester cannot take its own delegation. A legacy blanket credential cannot take a delegation that requires a capability, because it operates outside the capability model.
