# Create Breakouts

`POST /chatrooms/{room_name}/breakouts`

Split a class room's current participants into balanced breakout rooms.

Host (room creator) or admin only. Distribution balances the two exchange
sides unless the teacher supplies explicit `assignments`. Returns the child
rooms + who goes where; the teacher's client then broadcasts each assignment
over the parent room's data channel so students auto-move.
