# Update an idea

`PATCH /v1/ideas/{ideaId}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.flowral.app`
- URL: `https://api.flowral.app/v1/ideas/{ideaId}`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - OAuth 2 (client credentials, token URL `https://api.flowral.app/v1/oauth/token`, scopes: `flows:write`)

Title, notes, tags, assignee, or its parent — moving `parentId` re-parents the box. Refused if the move would create a cycle or self-parent.

- `ideaId` string, required

## Request body

  - `title` string
  - `notes` string
  - `tags` string[]
  - `assigneeId` string: Member id, or null to unassign.
  - `parentId` string: A different idea's id to nest under, or null to make it a root idea.

  - `parentId` string, nullable: The idea this nests under, or null for a root idea.
