# Trigger message event

`POST /message-events/{id}`

## Path parameters

- `messageEventId` string, required

## Request body

- TriggerMessageRequest: Request that is used for triggering a message
  - `createTestDefinition` boolean: Whether a test definition needs to be created for the message request. Only used when triggering a message for a definition

## Response `200`

Indicates the message event is found and triggered.

- TriggerResultDTO
  - `instanceId` string
  - `instanceType` string

## Other responses

- `404`: Indicates the message event was not found.
