# Tasks actions

`POST /cmmn-runtime/tasks/{taskId}`

## Path parameters

- `taskId` string, required

## Request body

- TaskActionRequest
  - `action` string, required: Action to perform: Either complete, claim, delegate or resolve
  - `assignee` string: If action is claim or delegate, you can use this parameter to set the assignee associated
  - `formDefinitionId` string: Required when completing a task with a form
  - `outcome` string: Optional outcome value when completing a task with a form
  - `variables` RestVariable[]: If action is complete, you can use this parameter to set variables
    - `name` string: Name of the variable
    - `type` string: Type of the variable.
    - `value` object: Value of the variable.
    - `valueUrl` string
    - `scope` string
  - `transientVariables` RestVariable[]: If action is complete, you can use this parameter to set transient variables
    - `name` string: Name of the variable
    - `type` string: Type of the variable.
    - `value` object: Value of the variable.
    - `valueUrl` string
    - `scope` string

## Response `200`

Indicates the action was executed.

## Other responses

- `400`: When the body contains an invalid value or when the assignee is missing when the action requires it.
- `404`: Indicates the requested task was not found.
- `409`: Indicates the action cannot be performed due to a conflict. Either the task was updates simultaneously or the task was claimed by another user, in case of the claim action.
