# Fuzzy contact search → the single closest contact (cross-entity)

`GET /api/v1/ackdb/contacts/search`

## Request

The contact analog of `/entities/search`. Pick a field and send a value — per-field params (all ANDed): `q` (across all fields), `name`, `email`, `phone`, `title`, `department`, `linkedin`; at least one required. Ranked case-insensitive substring (exact > prefix > contains) selects the single closest active contact across all companies by default. Set `includeFormer=true` to include ended affiliations too; active wins an equal-score tie and disabled contacts never qualify. Returns the contact hydrated with its identity links, traits, and a compact company ref (`entity: { entityId, name, domain }`), plus a sibling `matchedOn` block. No match → 404.

## Response `200`

The closest contact (incl. `personId`) + its identityLinks, traits, a compact company `entity` ref, and a `person` block naming the human plus their OTHER affiliations (`otherAffiliationCount`, `otherAffiliations[]` — including ended stints: a job change is the signal), alongside a sibling `matchedOn` { field, value, tier }.

## Other responses

- `400`: includeFormer was supplied with a value other than "true" or "false".
- `404`: No contact matches the given fields.
- `422`: No field param provided (need ≥1 of q/name/email/phone/title/department/linkedin).
