# Get the canonical code of an operator for API usage.

`GET /operators/{id}/canonical`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://aeroapi.flightaware.com/aeroapi`
- URL: `https://aeroapi.flightaware.com/aeroapi/operators/{id}/canonical`
- Auth: API key in header `x-apikey`
- TypeScript: <https://skmtc.dev/flightaware/apis/aeroapi/docs/operators/:id/canonical/get.ts> (a function with typed inputs; its response is checked against the schema)

Returns all possible matches for a given operator code (ICAO or IATA).
An optional country code can be provided to refine ambiguous IATA codes
to a single result. The country code should represent a country the
operator operates within.

## Response `200`

OK

- object
  - `operators` object[], required
    - `id` string, required: Operator id for use in the API
    - `id_type` 'icao' | 'iata', required: Operator id type

## Other responses

- `400`: Incorrect parameter (id or country_code). Id must be a valid operator code and cannot be empty. Country code must represent a country the operator operates within.
- `404`: No such operator exists.
