# Update existing currency.

`PUT /v1/currencies/{code}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://demo.firefly-iii.org/api`
- URL: `https://demo.firefly-iii.org/api/v1/currencies/{code}`
- Auth: one of:
  - OAuth 2
    - Authorization code: `https://demo.firefly-iii.org/oauth/authorize`
    - Token URL: `https://demo.firefly-iii.org/oauth/token`
  - HTTP bearer

Update existing currency.

## Path parameters

- `code` string, string, required

## Headers

- `X-Trace-Id` string, uuid

## Request body

- CurrencyUpdate
  - `enabled` boolean: If the currency is enabled
  - `primary` true: If the currency must be the primary for the user. You can only submit TRUE. Submitting FALSE will not drop this currency as the primary currency, because then the system would be without one.
  - `code` string, string: The currency code
  - `name` string, string: The currency name
  - `symbol` string, string: The currency symbol
  - `decimal_places` integer: How many decimals to use when displaying this currency. Between 0 and 16.

Updated currency stored, result in response

  - `data` CurrencyRead, required
    - `type` string, string, required: Immutable value
    - `id` string, string, required
    - `attributes` CurrencyProperties, required
      - `created_at` string, date-time
      - `updated_at` string, date-time
      - `enabled` boolean: Defaults to true
      - `primary` boolean: Is the primary currency?
      - `code` string, string, required
      - `name` string, string, required
      - `symbol` string, string, required
      - `decimal_places` integer: Supports 0-16 decimals.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad request
- `401`: Unauthenticated
- `404`: Page not found
- `422`: Validation error. The body will have the exact details.
- `500`: Internal exception
