# Resolve an API key to its owner

`GET /whoami`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://studio.fintechstudios.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://studio.fintechstudios.com/api/v1/whoami`
- Auth: API key in header `X-API-Key`

Returns the identity of the Studio user that owns the presented API key. `user_id` is the Studio users.id — the same value POST /api/system/provision-app-key returns, and identical across every key belonging to that user. Not metered: no credits are charged and the call succeeds even for a user with no credit account. Unlike other v1 endpoints this authenticates by API key only — a session cookie will not satisfy it, because the endpoint's purpose is to identify the presented key.
