# Retrieve Filing Document

`GET /filings/{id}/document/`

Download the filing's main document as a single readable file.

Many filings are stored as a ZIP package (`file_extension` is `ZIP`): an SEC submission with its exhibits and XBRL files, or an ESEF report package. For those, this returns the main document from inside the package: the SEC filer's primary document (the 10-K HTML, or the annual report PDF), or the ESEF report XHTML (also from a package nested inside the download). An HTML document comes as filed, with its images embedded so the saved file opens complete. `X-Package-Member` names the file inside the package.

For any other filing, and for a main document over 50 MB (HTML) or 100 MB (other files), the response is a redirect to the stored file (`document`). The full package is always at `document`. A 200 is billed as one raw request; a redirect is not billed.

## Response `200`

The main document, with its own Content-Type (e.g. text/html, application/xhtml+xml, application/pdf).

## Other responses

- `302`: The filing is not a package, or its main document is over the size cap: redirect to the stored file.
- `403`: Missing or invalid API key, or the plan does not include this endpoint.
- `404`: Not Found. The filing has no document, or its package is unreadable or empty.
- `429`: Rate limit, plan quota or spend cap reached.
