# Agent signup

`POST /agent/signup`

## Request

- Auth: none required

Create a Financial Datasets account as an AI agent and receive an API key in one call. No authentication required. The email must be the account owner's real inbox: they receive a one-click confirmation email, and they pay the Stripe funding link you mint later. While the account is unconfirmed and unfunded, calling signup again with the same email rotates the key (200).

## Request body

- AgentSignupRequest
  - `email` string, email, required: The account owner's real inbox. Placeholder domains (example.com, test.com, ...) are rejected.
  - `agent_name` string, required: A name the account owner will recognize; it appears in the confirmation email.

## Response `200`

Existing unconfirmed, unfunded account: the key was rotated and the fresh key is returned. The old key stops working.

  - `status` 'unfunded': Data calls return 402 until the account is funded.

## Other responses

- `201`: Account created; the API key is returned once. Save it immediately.
- `400`: Invalid email (including placeholder domains like example.com) or invalid agent_name.
- `409`: An account already exists for this email and cannot be modified from here. Key management moves to the dashboard.
- `429`: Rate limited. Wait, then retry.
