# Get a transaction by ID

`GET /v1/transaction/{id}`

## Request

Retrieves a single transaction by its unique identifier.

The transaction has been successfully retrieved.

  - `createdAt` string, date-time: Timestamp when the Transaction was created.
  - `updatedAt` string, date-time: Timestamp when the Transaction was last updated.

  - `paymentMethod` string: Payment method used for the transaction.

  - `type` string: Type of the transaction.
  - `notes` string: Notes for the transaction.
  - `employee` string: Employee ID who processed the transaction.
  - `balance` number: Balance after the transaction.
  - `sessionId` string: Session ID associated with the transaction. Absent when there is no till session to record against: an online-store order, or a sale on a virtual station, which has no session and no end-of-session reconciliation.
  - `stationId` string: Station ID where the transaction occurred.
  - `paymentData` TransactionPaymentDataDto
    - `processor` string: Payment processor name.
    - `processorTransactionId` string: Transaction ID from the processor.
    - `device` string: Device used for the transaction.
    - `processorData` string: Additional processor data.
    - `processorFee` number: Fee charged by the processor.
    - `paymentMethodType` string: Stripe payment_method.type. E.g. card_present (terminal), interac_present (Canada), card (MOTO). Used for refund routing.
    - `chargeId` string: Charge ID from the processor.
    - `provider` 'stripe' | 'adyen' | 'external': PSP that captured this payment (stripe | adyen). Absent on records written before multi-provider support — readers must treat absence as stripe. Orthogonal to `processor` (the FinalPay brand stamp, identical across PSPs). Refund routing keys on this field.
  - `orderId` string: Order ID associated with the transaction.
  - `refundId` string: Refund ID associated with the transaction.
  - `outletId` string: Outlet ID where the transaction occurred.
  - `receiptId` string: Receipt ID for the transaction.
  - `minorUnits` number: The Minor Units of the Transaction to convert the amount from minor units to major units.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad request. Returns validation errors or other request-related errors.
- `404`: The transaction was not found. The resource was not found.
