# GET /v1/totals/by_entity/

`GET /v1/totals/by_entity/`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.open.fec.gov` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)

- Auth: API key in header `X-Api-Key` and API key in query parameter `api_key` and API key in query parameter `api_key`

Provides cumulative receipt totals by entity type, over a two year cycle. Totals are adjusted to avoid double counting.

This is [the sql](https://github.com/fecgov/openFEC/blob/develop/data/migrations/V41__large_aggregates.sql) that creates these calculations.

    - `cumulative_party_disbursements` number, nullable: Cumulative party disbursements in a two year period, adjusted to avoid double counting.
    - `cumulative_party_receipts` number, nullable: Cumulative party receipts in a two year period, adjusted to avoid double counting.
    - `cycle` integer, nullable: Filter records to only those that were applicable to a given two-year period.The cycle begins with an odd year and is named for its ending, even year.
    - `end_date` string, date: The cumulative total for this month.
