# Update a contact

`PUT /accounts/self/contacts/{contact_id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://restapi.fax.plus/v3`
- URL: `https://restapi.fax.plus/v3/accounts/self/contacts/{contact_id}`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - OAuth 2
    - Authorization code: `https://accounts.fax.plus/login?response_type=code&client_id=YOUR_CLIENT_ID&redirect_uri=http://localhost&scope=all`
    - Token URL: `https://accounts.fax.plus/token` scopes: `all`

Update an existing contact (Permitted scopes: **fax:all:edit**)

## Path parameters

- `contact_id` string, required

## Request body

- ContactUpdate
  - `name` string: Contact name
  - `fax_number` string: Contact's fax number
  - `email` string: Contact's email address
  - `cellphone` string: Contact's cellphone number
  - `phone` string: Contact's phone number
  - `notes` string: Additional notes
  - `groups` string[]: List of group names
  - `is_telefax` boolean: Whether this contact has a human fax operator. When enabled, an IVR will ask the operator to switch to fax mode

Response containing a single contact object

  - `id` string: Contact ID
  - `name` string: Contact name
  - `fax_number` string: Contact's fax number
  - `groups` string[]: List of group names
  - `email` string: Contact's email address
  - `cellphone` string: Contact's cellphone number
  - `phone` string: Contact's phone number
  - `notes` string: Additional notes
  - `is_shared` boolean: Whether contact is shared with corporate members
  - `is_telefax` boolean: Whether contact has a human fax operator
  - `creation_date` string: Date contact was created
  - `modification_date` string: Date contact was last modified

## Other responses

- `400`: Error object in case there's a problem with given data
- `401`: Error object in case there's a problem with the authorization
- `404`: Requested resource was not found
- `500`: Error object in case there's a server error
