# Update automation

`PUT /user/automate/flows/{id}`

Rename a Famulor automation, turn it on or off, or repair it with a corrected definition.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required

## Request body

- object
  - `name` string: A new name for the automation (max 255 characters). In repair mode, the current name is kept when omitted.
  - `enabled` boolean: `true` to turn the automation on, `false` to turn it off
  - `flow` object: Repair mode: the corrected full definition, in the same format as [Create automation](/en/api-reference/automations/create) (`{"trigger": {...}, "steps": [...]}`). Max 1 MB.
  - `sample` object: Sample payload for the repair test run (for assistant events, the canonical sample is used when omitted). Max 256 KB.
  - `assistant_id` integer: For repairs of assistant-event automations: the assistant to (re)attach to. Usually already carried inside the definition’s trigger.
  - `confirm_side_effects` boolean: Required (`true`) when the corrected definition contains steps that send messages or emails, start calls, or make non-GET HTTP requests

OK

  - `data` object: The refreshed automation summary
    - `id` string: The automation ID
    - `name` string: The automation’s (possibly new) name
    - `status` string: `enabled` or `disabled`
    - `updated` boolean: Whether every requested change was applied

## Other responses

- `401`: Fehlender oder ungültiger API-Key.
- `404`: Not Found
- `422`: Die Anfrage ist inhaltlich ungültig.
