# Create Genealogies Source Description

`POST /genealogies/trees/{tid}/sources`

Create a genealogies source description in a tree. Provides a way to create genealogies source descriptions among persons in user-submitted genealogies.

## Request body

- CreateSourceDescription
  - `sourceDescriptions` object[], required: Array containing the source description to create. Exactly one source description must be provided. See <a href="https://developers.familysearch.org/main/docs/json-schema#sourcedescription" target="_blank">SourceDescription Schema (JSON)</a>
    - `citations` object[]: Array of citations for this source.
      - `value` string: The citation text.
    - `titles` object[]: Array of titles for this source.
      - `value` string: The title text.
    - `notes` object[]: Array of notes providing additional information about this source.
      - `text` string: The note text.
    - `attribution` object: Attribution information for this creation.
      - `changeMessage` string: The reason for creating this source.

## Response `201`

The operation was successful.

## Other responses

- `404`: If the genealogies tree is not found.
- `429`: The request was throttled.
