# Update Person Portraits

`POST /tree/persons/{pid}/portraits`

## Request

Update the portrait list associated with a tree person.

## Path parameters

- `pid` string, required

## Request body

- UpdatePersonPortraits
  - `person` object, required: The person whose portraits are being updated. See <a href="https://developers.familysearch.org/main/docs/json-schema#person" target="_blank">Person Schema (JSON)</a>
    - `media` object[], required: Array containing exactly one media reference with portrait information
      - `description` string, required: URI reference to the memory artifact. To find memory URIs, see <a href="/reference/getpersonmemories" target="_blank">Get Person Memories</a> and use the `links.memory.href` value from the response.
      - `qualifiers` object[], required: Array containing exactly one RectangleRegion qualifier that defines the portrait area
        - `name` string, required: Must be 'http://gedcomx.org/RectangleRegion'
        - `value` string, required: Rectangle region coordinates in format: left,top,width,height (normalized 0-1)
      - `attribution` object: Attribution information for the portrait update
        - `changeMessage` string: A change message for the portrait update

## Response `204`

The update was successful.

## Other responses

- `429`: The request was throttled.
