# Create a folder

`POST /mailboxes/{address}/folders`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://faivelo.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://faivelo.com/api/v1/mailboxes/{address}/folders`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Creates a folder, at the top level or under `parent` (an existing folder's `path`). Returns the new folder's `path`, which is what the move and list endpoints take. Requires scope `mail:write`.

## Path parameters

- `address` string, required

## Request body

- CreateFolderRequest
  - `name` string, required: One segment: no slashes
  - `parent` string: The `path` of the folder to nest it under; omit for a top-level folder

## Response `200`

Folder created

  - `data` FolderPath
    - `path` string: The folder's full IMAP path

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing or invalid API key
- `402`: The account's plan does not include the API (`plan_required`)
- `403`: The key lacks the required scope
- `404`: Resource not found
- `409`: A folder with that name already exists
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded
