# Rename a folder

`PUT /mailboxes/{address}/folders/{path}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://faivelo.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://faivelo.com/api/v1/mailboxes/{address}/folders/{path}`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Gives the folder a new name in place: a nested folder stays under its parent and its messages stay where they are. The system folders (Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Trash, Junk, Archive) cannot be renamed (**403**). Requires scope `mail:write`.

  - `name` string, required: The new name (one segment); the folder stays under its parent

## Response `200`

Folder renamed

    - `path` string: The folder's full IMAP path

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing or invalid API key
- `402`: The account's plan does not include the API (`plan_required`)
- `403`: The key lacks the required scope, or the folder is a system folder
- `404`: Resource not found
- `409`: A folder with that name already exists
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded
