# Take a stinger from PGM to PVW.

`POST /api/flows/{flow_id}/blocks/{block_id}/stinger/take`

- `flow_id` string, required
- `block_id` string, required

## Request body

- StingerTakeRequest: Take a stinger from PGM to PVW.
  - `file` string, nullable: When set, the clip played must be this file (the entry at `index`, or the cued one); otherwise the take fails with 409.
  - `index` integer, nullable: Playlist index to play. Defaults to the cued clip.

Take started

- StingerTakeResponse: Result of a take request.
  - `downgraded_from` 'classic' | 'track_matte' | 'mask_only': How a stinger switches the program beneath the clip.
  - `duration_ms` integer, required
  - `file` string, required: The clip played.
  - `index` integer, required
  - `take_id` integer, required: Identifies this take in `StingerStarted`, `StingerCompleted` and `StingerFailed`.
  - `take_to_air_ms` number, double, required: Time from the request to the clip's first frame on air.
  - `variant` 'classic' | 'track_matte' | 'mask_only', required: How a stinger switches the program beneath the clip.

## Other responses

- `400`: The take could not start
- `409`: The library changed: `file` is not the clip that would play
