Public counter for the paywall social-proof strip (A/B paywall_buyers_v1).

Leaks only the aggregate "N trials started today" — a number we display to
every funnel visitor anyway. Display floor/animation live client-side; on
a refresh failure the stale value is served and the strip degrades to its
floor on the client.
