# Mark Message As Unread

`POST /chat/markChatUnread/{instance}`

Mark message as read

## Path parameters

- `instance` string, required

## Request body

- object
  - `lastMessage` object[], required — Messages to be mark as unread
    - `remoteJid` string — Chat contact or group remote JID
    - `fromMe` boolean — If the message was sent by the instance owner or the contact
    - `id` string — Message ID
  - `chat` string, required — remoteJid here

## Response `201`

  - `message` string — A brief message describing the action performed.
  - `read` string — The status of the read action.
