# Mark Message As Read

`POST /chat/markMessageAsRead/{instance}`

Mark message as read

## Path parameters

- `instance` string, required

## Request body

- object
  - `readMessages` object[], required: Messages to be mark as read
    - `remoteJid` string: Chat contact or group remote JID
    - `fromMe` boolean: If the message was sent by the instance owner or the contact
    - `id` string: Message ID

## Response `201`

  - `message` string: A brief message describing the action performed.
  - `read` string: The status of the read action.
