# Deactivate or reactivate a user

`PUT /users/{userId}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://public.escape.tech/v3`
- URL: `https://public.escape.tech/v3/users/{userId}`
- Auth: API key in header `X-ESCAPE-API-KEY`

Deactivate or reactivate a user of the organization. Setting `deactivated` to `true` records the deactivation time, `false` clears it. Requires the ADMIN permission on the target user. The caller cannot deactivate themselves.

- `userId` string, required: The user ID

  - `deactivated` boolean, required: Set to `true` to deactivate the user, `false` to reactivate them

  - `lastLoginAt` string, date-time, nullable, required: The date and time the user last logged in
  - `roleBindings` object[], required: The role bindings of the user

    - `createdAt` string, date-time, required: The date and time the role binding was created
    - `roleId` string, uuid, required: The id of the role bound by the role binding
    - `projectId` string, uuid, nullable: The id of the project bound by the role binding
    - `userId` string, uuid, required: The id of the user bound by the role binding
