# Public companies ranked by total contract value awarded by one government over a date range, largest total first: US federal awards (USAspending.gov, in US dollars) by default, or Government of Canada contracts (open.canada.ca, in Canadian dollars) with country=CA. latestActionDate echoes that country's coverage as-of so an empty ranking is distinguishable from a coverage gap.

## Request

- URL: `https://api.equibles.com/v1/government-contracts/top`
- Auth: HTTP bearer
- TypeScript: <https://skmtc.dev/equibles/apis/equibles-api/docs/v1/government-contracts/top/get.ts> (a function with typed inputs; its response is checked against the schema)

## Query parameters

- `startDate` string, date
- `endDate` string, date
- `limit` integer
- `country` string

## Response `200`

OK

- TopGovernmentContractorsResponse: Top federal contractors over a date range. The resolved range is echoed back because both bounds default server-side (1 year ago to today).
  - `startDate` string, date: Resolved start of the ranked window.
  - `endDate` string, date: Resolved end of the ranked window.
  - `countryCode` string, nullable: The awarding government: US (USAspending.gov) or CA (open.canada.ca).
  - `currency` string, nullable: The currency every amount is in: USD for US awards, CAD for Canadian contracts.
  - `latestActionDate` string, date, nullable: Most recent action date stored for the awarding country — the coverage as-of. Null when no contract data is loaded (an empty ranking then means no coverage, not no awards).
  - `data` TopGovernmentContractorDto[], nullable
    - `rank` integer: 1-based rank, largest total first.
    - `ticker` string, nullable: Stock ticker symbol; MIC:TICKER (e.g. XTSE:WJX) for a company that trades only outside the US.
    - `name` string, nullable: Company name.
    - `totalAwarded` number, double: Sum of award values over the date range, in the response's currency.
    - `awardCount` integer: Number of awards over the date range.
  - `total` integer, nullable: Total distinct companies with awards in the window (the MCP tool's denominator) — data is truncated whenever it holds fewer rows (additive, #7056).

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad Request
