# Save to My trips

`POST /api/v2/budgets/{externalId}/trip`

## Request

- Auth: HTTP bearer

Files the budget under the caller's trip: joins a matching one, creates one, or (at the free trip limit)
answers `trip.needs_choice` with `candidates`.

- `401`: unauthenticated: No valid bearer token was sent.
