# Create Trip

`POST /api/v1/trips`

## Request

Create a new trip. Free users are limited to 1 saved trip.

## Request body

- object
  - `input_destination` string, nullable: The destination.
  - `departure_date` string, nullable: Must be today or later.
  - `return_date` string, nullable: Must be after departure_date.
  - `num_adults` integer, nullable: Min 1, max 20.
  - `num_seniors` integer, nullable: How many of the adults are 65 or over. Min 0, max 20.
  - `num_children` integer, nullable: Min 0, max 20.
  - `children_ages` integer[]: Ages 0-17.
  - `trip_type` 'single_city' | 'multi_city', nullable
  - `stops` object[]: Must not have more than 8 items.
    - `destination` string: This field is required when <code>stops</code> is present. Must not be greater than 255 characters.
    - `nights` integer, nullable: Must be at least 0. Must not be greater than 30.
    - `travel_mode` string, nullable: Must not be greater than 20 characters.
    - `order` integer, nullable
    - `destination_id` integer, nullable

## Other responses

- `401`: unauthenticated: No valid bearer token was sent.
- `403`
- `422`: validation_failed: The request body failed validation; field messages are in `errors`.
- `429`: rate_limited: A throttle or a per-account allowance refused the request; `retry_after` or `remaining` may be present.
- `500`: server_error: Unhandled failure; quote `request_id` to support.
