# Download a document

`GET /api/v1/trips/{tripExternalId}/documents/{documentExternalId}/download`

The file bytes, sent with `Content-Disposition: attachment`, `X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff` and the
document's `mime_type` as `Content-Type`. A document the caller may not see answers 404, so its existence is
not confirmed. The file lives on the private disk and is never publicly accessible.

- `401`: unauthenticated: No valid bearer token was sent.
- `429`: rate_limited: A throttle or a per-account allowance refused the request; `retry_after` or `remaining` may be present.
- `500`: server_error: Unhandled failure; quote `request_id` to support.
