# Send message to channel (deprecated)

`POST /api/messaging/central-channels/{channelId}/messages`

Send a message to a channel. Use POST /channels/{channelId}/messages instead.

## Path parameters

- `channelId` string, uuid, required

## Request body

  - `author_id` string, uuid, required: Central ID of the author sending the message
  - `content` string, required: Message content
  - `in_reply_to_message_id` string, uuid: ID of the root message being replied to (optional)
  - `server_id` string, uuid, required: Central server ID this channel belongs to
  - `raw_message` union: Raw message payload (string or JSON object)

  - `metadata` object: Additional metadata such as user_display_name
  - `source_type` string: Source identifier (e.g. 'eliza_gui')
