# Send a test event to a logging destination

`POST /observability-destination/{id}/test`

Sends a test event to a logging destination. Really delivers one synthetic admin event through the live forwarder and reports the outcome, updating `last_test_at`/`last_test_status`. Works on paused destinations. Optional `config`/`secrets` in the body are merged over the stored ones for this call only — nothing is saved — so edits can be verified before being written. Requires `logging:manage`.

  - `config` object: Non-secret provider settings.
    - `site` 'us1' | 'us3' | 'us5' | 'eu' | 'ap1': Datadog site.
    - `tags` string[]
    - `log_types` string[]: Which slices of the audit trail to forward: `tool_call` = MCP/tool executions, `auth` = membership, role, invite and credential events, `admin` = everything else.
  - `secrets` object: Write-only credentials, stored encrypted and never returned. Sending `secrets` REPLACES the whole stored bag, so include every key the provider needs, not just the one you are changing.
    - `api_key` string: Datadog API key — required for `datadog`.
    - `token` string: Splunk HEC token.
    - `shared_key` string: Sentinel shared key.
