# Remove Member

`DELETE /v1/auth/tenants/{tenant_id}/members/{user_id}`

Remove a member from the tenant (admin+ only; owners only removable by
owners; never yourself). If the removed membership was that user's default
tenant and they still belong to others, one of those is promoted to default
so their next login still resolves a tenant.

- `403`: Not an admin of that tenant, or an admin targeting an owner
- `404`: That person is not a member of this tenant
- `409`: You can't remove yourself from here
