# Obtain a Bearer token

`POST /v1/token/`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.educaplay.com`
- URL: `https://api.educaplay.com/v1/token/`
- Auth: HTTP basic

Exchanges HTTP Basic credentials for a Bearer token that can be used on every other API call.

Send the user's Educaplay email and password as an `Authorization: Basic base64(email:password)` header. No request body is expected.

## Response `200`

Bearer token issued.

- TokenResponse
  - `token` string, required: Bearer token to use on subsequent API requests as `Authorization: Bearer <token>`.

## Other responses

- `401`: The supplied credentials are invalid.
- `403`: The credentials are valid but the plan of the account does not include API access, which is only available on the Academic and Commercial plans. The error carries the code `license_required`.
- `406`: The `Authorization` header is missing or is not a `Basic` scheme.
- `429`: Too many failed attempts from this network or for this account, or the account has been signed in from too many networks recently. Retry later, or sign in on the website, where a captcha challenge is required.
