# Create an account autonomously

`POST /agent/signup`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://edge.network`
- URL: `https://edge.network/agent/signup`
- Auth: none required

Complete self-signup with a solved proof-of-work challenge and an Ed25519 public key. Returns an agent access code for a free explore-tier account that can deploy free-tier resources immediately.

## Request body

- object
  - `public_key` string, required: Ed25519 public key (base64).
  - `challenge_id` string, required: From POST /agent/signup/challenge.
  - `nonce` string, required: Proof-of-work solution nonce.
  - `signature` string, required: Signature over the challenge, proving key possession.

## Response `201`

Account created; the response contains the agent access code (shown once).

- TellUserEnvelope: Standard success envelope. Endpoint-specific fields ride alongside tell_user.
  - `tell_user` string, required: Human-readable summary of what happened, for the agent to relay to its operator.

## Other responses

- `400`: Validation error — the response body explains what to fix.
- `429`: Rate limited. Honour Retry-After and the RateLimit-* headers before retrying.
