# Add Item

`POST /v3/universal-ai/collections/{collection_id}/items`

## Request

Add an item to a collection.

The file runs on the collection's provider. Returns the provider-side
ids of the indexed items (one image can yield several, e.g. faces).

## Path parameters

- `collection_id` string, uuid, required

## Request body

- AddItemRequest: Body for adding an item to a collection.
  - `file` union, required: File to add, as a file id from /v3/upload or a URL. Accepted MIME types depend on the collection's subfeature (images for image/face_recognition).
    - string, uuid
    - string

## Response `201`

Successful Response

- ItemsResponse: Item ids stored in a collection (provider-side ids, passed through).
  - `collection_id` string, uuid, required
  - `item_ids` string[], required: Provider-side item ids (face ids for image/face_recognition).

## Other responses

- `422`: Validation Error
