# Create an actor.

`PUT /actor`

## Request body

- CreateActorRequest — The data used to create a new actor.
  - `identifier` string, required — The actor's unique identifier in the specification, used to refer to it from test cases.
  - `name` string, required — The actor's display name.
  - `description` string — The actor's description.
  - `reportMetadata` string — The actor's additional metadata for XML reports.
  - `default` boolean — Whether the actor should be considered as the default choice for new conformance statements within its specification.
  - `hidden` boolean — Whether the actor should be hidden.
  - `displayOrder` number — The actor's display order relative to other actors when presented in test execution diagrams.
  - `apiKey` string — The API key to set for the actor. If this key is already assigned, a new one will be generated.
  - `specification` string, required — The API key of the specification within which to create the actor.

## Response `200`

Actor created.

- ApiKeyResponse — The API key that was assigned to the creation of a new element.
  - `apiKey` string, required — The API key value.

## Other responses

- `429` — Call rate limit threshold exceeded for this operation.
- `default` — The received request was invalid.
