# Cancel an Insurance Policy

`POST /2024-09/insurances/policies/{policy_id}/cancel`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://public-api.easyship.com`
- URL: `https://public-api.easyship.com/2024-09/insurances/policies/{policy_id}/cancel`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Cancel an insurance policy. Only policies in `awaiting` state can be cancelled.

This only cancels `external_label` policies (created via `POST /insurances/policies-from-quote`). Passing the `easyship_insurance_id` of an `easyship_label` policy (from `GET /insurances/policies`) returns a 404, since those are not managed by this endpoint.

Required authorization scope: `public.insurance_policy_from_quote:write`

insurance policy successfully cancelled

    - `request_id` string: An unique ID represent the request.

## Other responses

- `404`: insurance policy not found
- `422`: insurance policy not cancellable
