# Add a participant

`POST /meetings/{meeting_id}/participants`

## Request

Adds a participant to the given meeting ID.

## Path parameters

- `meeting_id` string, uuid, required

## Request body

- object
  - `name` string, nullable: (Optional) Name of the participant.
  - `picture` string, uri, nullable: (Optional) A URL to a picture to be used for the participant.
  - `preset_name` string, required: Name of the preset to apply to this participant.
  - `custom_participant_id` string, required: A unique participant ID. You must specify a unique ID for the participant, for example, UUID, email address, and so on.

  - `success` boolean, required: Success status of the operation
  - `data` object: Represents a participant.
    - `id` string, uuid, required: ID of the participant.
    - `name` string, nullable: Name of the participant.
    - `picture` string, uri, nullable: URL to a picture of the participant.
    - `custom_participant_id` string, required: A unique participant ID generated by the client.
    - `preset_name` string, required: Preset applied to the participant.
    - `created_at` string, date-time, required: When this object was created. The time is returned in ISO format.
    - `updated_at` string, date-time, required: When this object was updated. The time is returned in ISO format.
    - `token` string, required: The participant's auth token that can be used for joining a meeting from the client side.
