# Get a template

`GET /templates/{uid}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.dynapictures.com`
- URL: `https://api.dynapictures.com/templates/{uid}`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Returns one template with its layer names, which are what `POST /designs/{uid}` overrides.

## Path parameters

- `uid` string, required

## Response `200`

The template.

- Template
  - `id` string, required: The ID of the template. Use it as `{uid}` in `POST /designs/{uid}`.
  - `formId` string: The ID of the template's form, used by the form widget.
  - `name` string, required: The name of the template.
  - `thumbnail` string, uri: Thumbnail URL, fitting a 300x300px square.
  - `dateCreated` string, date-time: When the template was created.
  - `dateUpdated` string, date-time: When the template was last changed.
  - `layers` TemplateLayer[]: The layers of the template.
    - `type` string: The layer type, e.g. `canvas`, `text` or `image`.
    - `name` string: The layer name to use in `params`.
    - `width` string: Layer width.
    - `height` string: Layer height.
    - `text` string, nullable: The current text of a text layer.

## Other responses

- `400`: The request is invalid. `message` says why.
- `401`: The API key is missing or wrong.
- `403`: The plan limit is reached, the trial has expired, or the key has no access to this resource.
- `404`: The resource does not exist, or the key has no access to it.
