# Running build identity.

`GET /v1/version`

## Request

- Base URL: `http://localhost:8080`
- URL: `http://localhost:8080/v1/version`
- Auth: none required

Returns the git sha and release version of the running api, engine, and render
containers (DVT-5091). Public and unauthenticated; only sha and version strings are
returned. A container that is unconfigured, unreachable, or reports a malformed value
reads `unknown`. Cached server-side for a few seconds.

Build identity.

- VersionInfo: Running build identity of the api and its sibling containers (DVT-5091).
  - `version` string, required: The api's release version.
  - `sha` string, required: The api's git sha.
  - `containers` object, required
    - `api` BuildInfo, required: One container's build identity. `unknown` when it cannot be determined.
      - `sha` string, required: Git commit sha the image was built from, or `unknown`.
      - `version` string, required: Release version, or `unknown`.
    - `engine` BuildInfo, required: One container's build identity. `unknown` when it cannot be determined.
      - `sha` string, required: Git commit sha the image was built from, or `unknown`.
      - `version` string, required: Release version, or `unknown`.
    - `render` BuildInfo, required: One container's build identity. `unknown` when it cannot be determined.
      - `sha` string, required: Git commit sha the image was built from, or `unknown`.
      - `version` string, required: Release version, or `unknown`.
