# Delete a skill section.

`DELETE /v1/skill-sections/{id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `http://localhost:8080`
- URL: `http://localhost:8080/v1/skill-sections/{id}`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in cookie `dvt_session`
  - HTTP bearer

Soft-deletes the section. By default (`onChildren=cascade`), the entire subtree is soft-deleted with it and every skill filed anywhere in that subtree is cleared to unsectioned. Pass `onChildren=reparent` with a `reparentTo` target to instead move this section's direct children onto another section and delete only this section (DVT-1143). Requires `skill:manage`.

- `reparentTo` string, uuid

## Response `204`

Deleted.

## Other responses

- `400`: Malformed request.
- `401`: Missing, invalid, or expired session.
- `403`: The caller's role does not permit this action.
- `404`: Resource does not exist.
- `409`: `onChildren=reparent` and `reparentTo` refers to a nonexistent section, is this section or one of its own descendants, or refers to a section that has skills filed directly on it (section-reparent-target, DVT-1143).
