# Pause or resume AEO tracking

`PATCH /api/sites/multiscreen/{site_name}/aeo`

## Request

Pauses or resumes tracking for the site's AEO project, and returns the updated project.

- `{"status": "DEACTIVATED"}` pauses tracking. No further runs are scheduled, and the site stops counting toward the plan's site allowance. The project and its history are kept. Pausing an already paused project is a no-op.
- `{"status": "ACTIVATION_STARTED"}` resumes tracking. Resuming checks the plan's site limit again, even when the project is already active.

  - `status` 'DEACTIVATED' | 'ACTIVATION_STARTED', required: `DEACTIVATED` pauses tracking; `ACTIVATION_STARTED` resumes it. Case-sensitive.

  - `country_code` string, nullable: The project's primary market, as an ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code. `null` when `status` is `NOT_STARTED` or `UNKNOWN`.
  - `status` 'NOT_STARTED' | 'ACTIVATION_STARTED' | 'ACTIVATION_COMPLETED' | 'UNKNOWN' | 'DEACTIVATED' | 'ACTIVATION_STALLED': Status of a site's AEO project. See Get AEO project status.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad request. `error_code` is `InvalidInput` and `errors` is empty. - `status` is missing or is not `DEACTIVATED` or `ACTIVATION_STARTED` (case-sensitive).
- `401`: Unauthorized. The credentials are missing or invalid.
- `403`: Forbidden. `error_code` is `AccessForbidden`, and `errors[0].code` names the cause: - No code (`errors` is empty): the caller can't access the site. - `AeoPlanNotFound`: the account has no active AEO plan. - `AeoSitesLimitExceeded`, `AeoUpgradeRequired` or `AeoRunsLimitExceeded`: resuming would exceed the plan's site limit or run pool. See Activate AEO for a site.
- `404`: Not found. `error_code` is `ResourceNotExist`, and `errors[0].code` names the cause: - `AeoProjectNotFound`: the site has no AEO project.
- `409`: Conflict. `error_code` is `InvalidState`, and `errors[0].code` names the cause: - `AeoActivationInProgress`: another activation for this account is in progress. Retry later.
- `429`: Too many requests. The rate limit was exceeded.
