# Create a legal hold policy - v3

`POST /legalholds/v3/policies`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://apis.druva.com/insync`
- URL: `https://apis.druva.com/insync/legalholds/v3/policies`
- Auth: API key in header `Authorization`

Creates a legal hold policy in Druva inSync.

## Request body

- RequestCreateLHPolicy
  - `name` string: The name of the legal hold policy. Example - Legal Hold Policy 1
  - `type` 'All Backup Data' | 'Last Backup Data' | 'Data within a Date Range': The data access type of the legal hold policy
  - `cullingType` 'Include All Files' | 'Include Only Deleted Files': The filter type of the legal hold policy. :fa-info-circle: Applicable only if the data access type is 'Data within a Date Range'. Use any of the filter types
  - `startDate` string, date: The start date in the range in which the data is to be accessed. Format: YYYY-MM-DD :fa-info-circle: Applicable only if the data access type is 'Data within a Date Range'.
  - `endDate` string, date: The end date in the range in which the data is to be accessed. Format: YYYY-MM-DD :fa-info-circle: Applicable only if the data access type is 'Data within a Date Range'.

## Response `200`

OK

- ResponseCreateLHPolicy
  - `policyId` integer: The ID of the legal hold policy. Example - 1

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad Request
- `401`: Unauthorized
- `403`: Access denied: Insufficient permissions. User requires specific access rights and minimum permissions. Details: https://help.druva.com/en/articles/15069296
- `404`: Not found
- `422`: Unprocessable Entity
- `500`: Internal Server Error
