# On-demand backup

`POST /vmware/v1/orgs/{orgID}/jobs/backupNow`

## Request

- Base URL: `//apis.druva.com/phoenix` (relative, and the document’s source URL is not known)
- URL: `//apis.druva.com/phoenix/vmware/v1/orgs/{orgID}/jobs/backupNow`
- Auth: API key in header `Authorization`

Initiates an on-demand backup for a configured virtual machine.

## Path parameters

- `orgID` integer, required

## Request body

- VMBackupNowRequestParams: VMBackupNowRequestParams is backup job request inputs
  - `vmID` integer: The ID of the virtual machine. Get the ID of the virtual machine using the 'List all backup sets' VMware API

## Response `200`

Success

- VMBackupNowResponse: VMBackupNowResponse is response to backupnow request
  - `jobID` integer: The unique identification number associated with the job.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad Request
- `401`: The request did not include an authentication token or the authentication token was expired.
- `403`: Forbidden
- `404`: The requested resource was not found.
- `500`: The request was not processed due to an internal error in Cloud.
