# Add a category

`POST /v1/showcases/{showcaseId}/categories`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.dropl.io` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)
- URL: `https://api.dropl.io/v1/showcases/{showcaseId}/categories`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Requires the `showcases:write` scope (create and edit showcases, categories, and tags). Send `Idempotency-Key` to retry safely: a repeat with the same key and body within 24 hours returns the first response.

## Other responses

- `400`: Validation failed
- `401`: `INVALID_API_KEY`: missing, invalid, expired, or revoked key
- `403`: `INSUFFICIENT_SCOPE` (names the missing scope), `SITE_RESTRICTED_KEY`, or a plan limit
- `404`: Not found, or outside the key's sites
- `409`: `IDEMPOTENCY_KEY_IN_PROGRESS` or a conflict
- `422`: `IDEMPOTENCY_KEY_REUSED`
- `429`: Rate limited
