# Resolve a US ZIP code to a coordinate

`GET /api/geo/zip`

## Request

Returns the centroid, city and state for a five-digit US ZIP code. Public, no key. Rate limited per IP; results are cached for a day.

## Query parameters

- `zip` string, required

## Response `200`

Centroid of the ZIP code.

- ZipPoint
  - `lat` number, required
  - `lng` number, required
  - `city` string, required
  - `state` string, required: Two-letter state.

## Other responses

- `400`: zip is not five digits.
- `404`: The ZIP code is not known.
- `429`: Too many requests from this IP address. Wait the number of seconds in Retry-After.
- `503`: The upstream geocoder is temporarily unavailable.
