# POST /api/lab_orders

`POST /api/lab_orders`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://app.drchrono.com`
- URL: `https://app.drchrono.com/api/lab_orders`
- Auth: OAuth 2
  - Authorization code: `https://app.drchrono.com/o/authorize/`
  - Token URL: `https://app.drchrono.com/o/token/` scopes: `labs:read`, `labs:write`

Create lab orders. An example lab workflow is as following:

- When you get orders, submit them via `/api/lab_orders`, such that doctors can see them in drchrono.

- When results come in, submit the result document PDF via `/api/lab_documents` and submit the results data via `/api/lab_results`

- Update `/api/lab_orders` status

Created

- LabOrder
  - `status` string: Equivalent to HL7's ORC.5. Defaults to `"N"`. Value | Notes ----- | ----- `"N"` | not sent | `"Q"` | queued for processing | `"A"` | `ABN (Advance Beneficiary Notice)` required | `"S"` | send | `"R"` | results received | `"E"` | error |
  - `documents` string[]: Associated `/lab_documents` objects
  - `patient` integer, required
  - `doctor` integer, required
  - `timestamp` string: Time at which the order was submitted. Defaults to now
  - `notes` string
  - `accession_number` string: For external use only
  - `requisition_id` string: The ID printed on the requisition PDF. Generally the same as id.
  - `external_requisition_id` string: Alternative requisition ID field for orders created outside of DrChrono.
  - `priority` 'N' | 'S': `"Normal"` or `"STAT"`. Default `"Normal"`
  - `icd10_codes` object[]: ICD-10 codes of the conditions which the tests concerns.
    - `code` string: The numeric ICD-10 code
    - `description` string: Short description of the ICD-10 code
  - `sublab` integer, required
  - `id` integer

- `401`: Unauthorized
- `403`: Permission Denied
- `404`: Not Found
- `405`: Method Not Allowed
- `500`: Internal Server Error
