# Hosting History

`GET /v1/{domain}/hosting-history/`

## Request

Provides the registrar, IP and name server history for a domain name.

## Path parameters

- `domain` string, required: A base (apex) domain like example.com, excluding subdomains.

## Query parameters

- `app_partner` string: A short identifier, code, or handle.
- `app_name` string: A short identifier, code, or handle.
- `app_version` string: A short identifier, code, or handle.
- `format` 'html' | 'json' | 'xml': The desired response format.

## Response `200`

OK

- HostingHistory: Response for the Hosting History endpoint.
  - `response` object
    - `domain_name` string: The queried domain name.
    - `ip_history` object[]: Chronological list of IP address changes for the domain.
      - `action` 'N' | 'C' | 'D': Event type code. One of: `N` (New — first observed), `C` (Change — IP changed), `D` (Not Resolvable — domain stopped resolving).
      - `action_in_words` string: Human-readable label for the action code.
      - `actiondate` string, date: Date the event was recorded (YYYY-MM-DD).
      - `domain` string: The domain name associated with this event.
      - `post_ip` string, ipv4, nullable: IP address after the change. Null or empty string when the domain became unresolvable.
      - `pre_ip` string, ipv4, nullable: IP address before the change. Null for New events.
    - `nameserver_history` object[]: Chronological list of nameserver changes for the domain.
      - `action` 'T' | 'N' | 'C': Event type code. One of: `T` (Transfer — nameserver provider changed), `N` (New), `C` (Change).
      - `action_in_words` string: Human-readable label for the action code.
      - `actiondate` string, date: Date the event was recorded (YYYY-MM-DD).
      - `domain` string: The domain name associated with this event.
      - `post_mns` string: Nameserver provider after the change.
      - `pre_mns` string: Nameserver provider before the change.
    - `registrar_history` unknown[]: Deprecated. This field is retained for backward compatibility and always returns an empty array. Do not rely on it for new integrations.

## Other responses

- `400`: 400: Bad Request. The request was invalid. The response will contain details about the error.
- `401`: 401: Unauthorized. API credentials are required and were not provided, or the provided credentials are not valid.
- `403`: 403: Forbidden. The API credentials provided do not have access to the requested resource or endpoint.
- `404`: 404: Not Found. The requested resource does not exist.
- `500`: 500: Internal Server Error. An unexpected error occurred on the server. If the problem persists, contact DomainTools support.
- `503`: 503: Service Unavailable. The service is temporarily unavailable.
