# Start a restream

`POST /restreams/{id}/start`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.theo.live/v2`
- URL: `https://api.theo.live/v2/restreams/{id}/start`
- Auth: HTTP basic

Starts pushing the source stream to the target; the restream status becomes `active`. The source and target are validated again as on creation. An `engine` restream can only be started while its engine is not stopped (409 `engine_not_running`) and is stopped automatically when the engine stops. Returns 409 `already_active` when the restream is already active.

- `id` string, required: Restream ID

Restream started

- `503`: Region information is temporarily unavailable; retry the request.
